How do you get back into a field that you have been out of for five years? I was a maternal child nurse for 29 years and had to leave to take care of a sick family member. I miss postpartum/mother baby nursing so much.

Just apply! You should be hired quickly! Vast experience is valued. Really not much has changed I. The last 5 years. I've been on RN 32 years. You could consider getting certification. It's a good way to refresh and learn new stuff. Now we use transexemic acid for pph , and lots of IV tylenol. Less use of narcotics now. That's really all that's newer. You could try travel nursing locally to jump in quick, too.

Maybe taking an RN refresher course first to reactivate your license and gaining some insights. Many OB centers are in shortage now, so always worth it to try to apply. It might feel awkward first, but your muscle memories will come back. A
