Is working in an Ambulatory setting a good idea for a New Grad Nurse? What are your thoughts?

Yes! If you work in an urgent care that are considered intermediate care then you will gain a lot of knowledge! These types of urgent cares monitor patients on telemetry and usually have patients that are holding to be transferred to a hospital! You could see GI problems and some Cardiac patients that may have fast heart rates ! Some That are having asthma attacks and need medications to be administered! So look into what type of experience you are looking for ! Ask them what type of patients they get and if it’s busy with different types of patients that could give you some thought to where you want to be either in an ambulatory clinic or hospital!

I believe it’s a great way of gaining nursing experience and learning/mastering nursing skills without the high demands and extensive care of inpatient.
