Does anyone regret becoming a nurse practitioner? I've been practicing for 5 years now and I don't want to do it anymore. Burnt out! We are cheap labor!

Do u Like Surgey. As a RNFA, @ a Trauma Center, Hospital Based & Private Practice, there is a big demand for 1st Assistants at Surgery. As a NP, you can Bill privately (use a Biller). You can maybe take “Call”, @ a Local Hospital. The Challenges are Big, u Work many Hours, but to be Successful, You have to be “Available”, “Willing”, & “Accessible”. I worked Long Hours, made Very Good $! That’s Not what Everyone wants! You have to Figure out what is important to You. If you want a Good Income, you have to Work for it. If you want more Off Time, then you probably have to take a Income Reduction! And Yes, NP & PA’s ARE Cheap Labor. You have No Leverage Right Now. Unlike RN’s, which have Great Leverage & National Recognition, NP’s are a “Gap” Fill, to do those “Duties”, that are not Profitable for a MD Group. And if a NP or PA is hired by a Medical Group, they are usually over worked & under payed. Good Luck, Burn Out is only Temporary, you will get your MoJo Back! I’ve Been there with Trauma!

Maybe apply for a job elsewhere. I have a friend that went to work for a physician at a pain management center and she likes it. If your 5 years at the same place maybe look elsewhere. Best wishes.

I have not done it myself, but had 2 coworkers that did.....one is now an NNP on our unit....and she is not so friendly any more...lol. Another one said she now makes less money when you work out the numbers. And I have 2 other nurses that I used to work with in IMC and one of them said he may have made a mistake.... said damn, I gave up working 3 days a week to be here almost 6....what was I thinking. The other one looks busy and stressed all the time too. I agree, the doctors treat you guys bad.
