How are all my nursing students out there balancing school, family, and work? I want to cut my work hours down but I need to pay my bills!
It is definitely hard and there is always going to be a place where sacrifices are going to be made. Luckily my family and friends were very understanding and supportive, because it was mostly in that area where time was lost. As far as work, I was in a four semester accelerated program and in order to keep grades up to my satisfaction had to cut my hours down after my first semester but balancing that is something that you will learn to do as well and find what you are okay with. It is still important to make time for yourself and things that make you happy as cliché as that sounds because if you don’t it is so easy to get burnt out and once you reach that point you just won’t absorb the material as much anyway. Always remember to take things day by day and week by week and you will get through it! It seems impossible at the time but it will be over before you know it. Good luck!
Remember, your education comes first! You will always find a job but navigating this world of academia is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Do not get caught up in working! You need to rest, study and enjoy the family!
