Have any of you experienced giving cash as tips by patients' relatives? Did you accept it?

Most patients and family are privy to the rule against nurses taking cash as a tip. They know it, we know it, but every once in a while someone will try and slide you a $20. I simply say no thank you, express my gratitude at the offer and suggest that they support a charity that they feel passionate about instead.

Yes, and I never accepted any of them. It is not right to take tips for taking care of patients. Patients families have brought cookies, candy etc. for the entire staff to thank them for taking care of their patients. But never accept a private tip from any patient or family member.
