How you keep your self from giving up the job search when no one is willing to hire a new grad? I’ve applied to a bunch of different places and types and keep getting the same answer!

Don't give up. I know it's ironic that employers want someone with experience, but don't seem to want to open the door to give qualified applicants experience. Continue to send your applications to as my positions in which you are interested. You might want to include any special hobbies, experiences or personality traits that you have that might set you apart from other new grads. You might also want to try long term care to get your foot in the door while you continue your search. Don't give up. Stay positive and eventually someone will hire you. Good look!

Don’t give up!! Keep applying. I know it gets frustrating, but all it takes is one yes. I got rejected over and over and over again as a new grad! It took me about six months from the time graduated until I landed a nurse residency. I also graduated with an ADN and all the hospitals wanted experience or a BSN degree. The hospital I was accepted to accepted ADNs, I followed up with them and finally landed an interview and got a position. A year and a half later, I am still at that hospital in the same med surg position. Med surg is usually willing to take on new grads. Good luck, & stay positive! You will get something!

I live in New Jersey and it was hard to find a job in a hospital especially without a BSN. In the Midwest, Indiana to be specific, they hire new grads. By the time we moved there I had years of experience under my belt but none in acute care. They asked me what area I wanted to work in. Are you willing to relocate temporarily to get that first job experience?

When I did take a job in NJ, I was underpaid which just lead me to look for something better (aside from the owner doctor being super grumpy and awful to work with). I then switched to a sub acute care facility and next hospice care. Make connections with people along the way as you never know what doors that may open. And don’t be afraid to reach for something better. Try not to burn bridges as you move around but don’t feel bad either for wanting to grow and be somewhere else that you are more passionate about. Good luck, you got this :)
