How do I get a position in acute care when I’ve only had experience in skilled nursing, home health, education, and outpatient clinic for peritoneal dialysis?

Those sound like you have the perfect skill set and experience to be an inpatient/acute care nurse. Start asking around for openings in your health system and look at online job boards in your area. Most places are willing to train new staff (hint: look for the sign on bonuses).

Be confident and proud of your experience in you interviews. And remember… these hospitals need you more than you need them. If they think you’re not a good fit for one position, don’t worry, there are plenty more out there. You’ll find the right one that fits you and that values you. Never settle for a job you hate!
