Are there differences in the legal liability for PAs and NPs?

From my understanding most PAs do not work independently of a physician supervisor. However in some states NPs can practice independently without a collaborative physician. This definitely would have more liability concerns for them. However both PAs and NPs practice to the fullest extent of their scopes of practice and therefore have legal liabilities if they go beyond those scopes.
