Any tips on how to get my resume and cover letter seen my hospitals here in the Sacramento Area, CA? I’m a new grad with MA & LVN prior experience and I’m having zero luck. I’ve been applying since August 2021. Everything is online & automated.

Try doing registry work. That gets you in the door, the hospital sees how you work, and might land you an interview with the director of nursing without even having to “formally apply”. After the interview they’ll have you apply if they want to make you an offer.

Volunteering is agreat way to start
It will give you inside information on whom to talk to

Instead of just applying online, ask for an informational interview with the nurse manager in the department that you are applying to. Ask them for advice on how to get hired there and leave them a short but concise resume. Knock on doors and use whatever personal connections and prior work contacts to get in front of someone. Be bold. It’s old school but it works. That’s how I got my last two jobs and I was out of the workforce for over 10 years. It only took me three weeks to get a job.
