Can someone offer guidance about obtaining a compact or LPN license in Florida? Can you have a license in two different states? Are there residency requirements to live in the state? I'm considering working in both states i.e. snowbirding.

I have a RN license in Wisconsin and Florida and I think that they are the same process. I live in Wisconsin and plan to relocate to Florida soon. It was easier than I thought it would be. Good luck.

TX was my state of orginal licensure. Each time I moved from state to state, I just contacted the new state board of Nurse Examiners. They will walk you through it and contact TX to verify your license. You then pay new state's fee and to work you go. FYI....a TX license will allow you to work in ANY US Government facility without changing your license or residence. I think I had 5 states licenses at one time, LONG ago (I moved around a lot).

Your Compact license is supposed to be from your original state of licensure, If you do not have a compact license in your original state of licensure and it is a compact state you will simply need to apply for a compact license in your original state . If you are going to work in another compact state you will then have a compact license so do not need to apply for a license by reciprocity in that state. If it is not a compact state you have to apply for a license in that state which can all be done on line. Florida is a compact state.
