Interview Question Advice: "What do you find most rewarding about being a Nurse?"
It is incredibly rewarding to nurture a patient through what can be the most difficult journey of their life. To help someone transition fro sickness to wellness is a blessing. I meet family members who are broken and if I am lucky, I may be able to help them find hope or peace with what they are going through. Nursing is a gift and I appreciate every aspect of it.
When someone tries to die on you three or four times and their on ECMO for weeks and then all a sudden they get better and actually walk (in reality pushed in a wheelchair) out the hospital front doors …. And the great BIG HUGS you get from pts and family…and the baked goods are pretty nice too ❤️
Honestly, my drive is the knowledge. As an ICU nurse it's been my biggest pride to have sharp critical thinking skills. To recognize a deteriorating patient, to anticipate diagnostics and plans of care, and to be able to coordinate plans between doctors (when they don't communicate with eachother) haha.
