Is it useful to be a pharmacy technician with a nursing background? or vice versa?

December 30th, 2022

I was a pharmacy technician first before I became a nurse. Having that experience and going to nursing really help identify the different types of medications during school and clinical. I would hear the pharmacist provide drug education which I would learn or ask questions for myself. But there is still a lot to learn in nursing than medications.

From nurse to pharmacy technician, it may help but I do not see a benefit in switching roles. The pay and responsibilities are very different between the two. You do not need a college degree to be a pharmacy technician but you do as a nurse.
