Tips to help with mental exhaustion?

September 10th, 2022

Causation and ramification are antonyms. Opposites. Find the cause, make up the cure. Nursing is the best job ever. It is palliative / it is life saving. Opposites. It is a helping hand in a time of need / IT IS STRESSFUL. It will gratify you or suck the life out of you. All antonyms. All true. You will never find a more rewarding job that sheerly exhausts you for your knowledge. So, as the others posted, put that knowledge to rest. I suggest 1 hour every day/night after work. Do not go home. Do not go to McDonald's bc it will frustrate you when that someone with 12 orders and has a list in hand that you can almost read from your car can not make up their mind in the drive up island. (We've all been there.) Read, exercise, walk, swim, make a coffee date, watch birds, skip around the ants in the park trying not to step on them because some idiot decided sand was a good place for it to be near a public picnic table. (Seriously? If that doesn't make you laugh and destress, you need to find a good book to read.) Good luck. I simply pray out loud.

Turn off your phone and make yourself unavailable. In order for your brain to reset, it needs to be free from stimulation. I had to stop listening to music when I leave work and I play thunder storm sounds or very minimal sounds.

Find a day that you can get away to nature. Go to a beautiful park, go for a hike, go to the lake. Turn off your phone!!! This should not be a family trip where it's work. Take a picnic lunch or snack and leave.

Some people say "nurses are borne", heck no. Nursing is challenge, in whichever discipline or degree. Going home wasted, too tired to do anything?. Divert... Period. How, well I started collecting books that keep me very busy. Criminal minds. Then Ive collected video series, from all over town. Nothing about nursing. I've also started redecorating my area. Burned candles and oil, turned gloom into fragrance. It works. Live you're life while serving others. Oh and the exercise part?. Pilatis works for me
