What non clinical jobs can I apply to as a new grad with a few months of experience?
A lot of new grads where I work usually come in as floor secretaries for their area of interest and gradually start moving up after making a good impression with the unit nurses and managers.
I was having a difficult time finding a job after graduating myself. Everywhere wanted experience, which can be frustrating. The key for me was finding postings that said "experience preferred". I ended up finding a job in an ambulatory setting.
You need to apply for clinical jobs as a new grad. That is the only way to build up experience. I have been a nurse for 45 years. I started my first year on medical surgical floors. That helped me learn medications, procedures and how to interact with the other medical professionals. Clinical Jibs are a must. After the first year, you can. Decide if medical/ surgical is what you want to pursue or if you want to look at something else. I transept too ICU after a year and lived working there for several years. I thought it was where I would spend my career. I ended up transferring to the ER and found that was my true love. I loved working there and had great skills developed yet was able to continue to learn. Once my daughter went to college I was able to take traveler jobs in different units like the float pool in Anchorage. Start to build your experience and just keep going until you end up doing what you love
New grad RN or MSN? New grad RN, I would say maybe insurance companies but they require some experience in the hospital setting. Entrepreneurship can be a possibility depending on your interests. MSN new grad, I believe the field is wide open, definitely teaching, insurance companies, entrepreneurship and more. All depends on your interests, good luck!
