Hello, I just got my RN license 3 weeks ago and have been applying to jobs nonstop. I’m feeling bummed out because I can’t even get an interview. Would it be beneficial to apply to jobs outside of CA to get experience and then transfer back?
UC health in Denver is hiring as many as possible. Great place to work
You may to consider applying to the facilities where you did your clinical training.
Apply to a new grad program.
I've met many nurses who left their home state for a year to get experience then come back. Fun way to meet new people make new friends.
I’m not sure what you are applying for, but if you are interested in a specialty, Fresenius is always hiring. Fmcna.com
Yes try Nevada then go back sfter 3 years of experience .
When I just graduated I had a lot of trouble. I think back now and It is probably because I was submitting the same resume for each job. Each job wants to feel special. you have to spend 2 hours or so on each application. Idk if this will work for you but it did for me. Its a quality not quantity thing.
are you applying to hospitals only? some hospitals may take weeks before getting back to you and thats if they do. They can only hire certain amount of grad nurses or new to the specialty since they need someone to precept them. If you need money meanwhile look into staffing nursing agencies around your area. I would not advise a nursing home unless the patient to nurse ratio is not too crazy... (work on one before and had 1:40) . At least in my area, NY & CT you get school nursing jobs between 60-90 dollars, even though many will offer less and often require at least 6 months experience. But some will be willing to hire at a lower rate. if you get a non hospital job when applying to hospitals they may not really take into consideration your other experience, specially if you are going into a specialty. I think in CT n NY most staff jobs are paying between 38~50|hr but remember as a new grad you may end up on the low range. Good luck, de patient it can take time
Most units are short staffed but there’s probably no budget, other prefers experienced nurses. Some hospitals have Nurse Residency programs to start for new grads, salary is lower but that lets u in. Then if both u and the manager like each other & they have openings, they’ll offer u a position or let u know if another unit has opening & can provide the other manager his/her recommendations. If not, you can definitely accept any hospitals that match your criteria & stay for at least 1 year then transfer. Good luck.
