I started as an ER nurse and thought that dialysis is an easy job coz i usually see them doing emergency dialysis treatment in the Er just sitting amd chillin for 3 to 4 hrs till it gets finish...But my oh my to my surprised! Its not as simple as that.....they make it look easy coz theyve been doing it for quite some time ,theyre well seasoned Dialysis nurses already thats why they made it look so easy. But if you like to earn more and a workaholic Dialysis is a very rewarding job, lots and lots of overtimes and if u want to go places take that Dialysis Travel jobs wherein u go to different states for a 13 week assignment. So finally my advised to be a good dialysis nurse start working in a Chronic Outpatient clinic then harness ur skills there in Cannulating patients and master trouble shooting the dialysis machines then apply for Travel or Acute dialysis jobs!Lots of OT's means lots of Greens! Goodluck!

I am now a home therapy dialysis case manager. I also help train patients to do home peritoneal dialysis. I did work in center as an outpatient dialysis nurse. You either love it or hate it, there is no in-between.
What are you wanting to know specifically?

I work in dialysis acutes. We have a room where we can bring 6 patients with 3 nurses providing care. If the patient is in ICU or can’t come into the room, then we have staff who provide treatment in their room. It’s fast paced and hectic at times. The downside is having to take call and late hours.
