How does a travel nurse's pay change if they have to cover their own housing and travel expenses?

January 26th, 2025

I've done travel nursing for the last 4-5 years. Each situation is different. Once I was given a air BNB for my stay with my regular negotiated pay. Once I was loaned a travel trailer and all it's essentials plus the rent paid for a month then it was on me ($800 month lot rent after 30 days) not bad a month but the heat was killing me so I purchased 3 ac units which barely touched the heat coming into it!, then other times-and I mean most almost always I have to pay for a hotel out of my own pocket and after the gas food and payment I'm usually breaking even because I am not a thrifty person and find that I like to live well when out of town and spoil myself lol so the first two options were amazing but I still didn't have any or loose any more money I just broke even 99.9% of the time. I also owe 5 years of back taxes on all my hard earned money that I need to deal with but can't. I really don't think travel nursing is worth it
