What nursing specialty has the highest turnover rate?

August 23rd, 2023

High turnover rates are usually in higher intensive care units of all kinds or emergency care units! But any unit can be as well!
Because a good caring nurse finds they can’t keep up with the demand of being a patient advocate, waitress, house keeper, psychologist, care giver, teacher and friend to every patient they take care of! But that’s what you learn to be.
Then you have to deal with the patients inner circle of family and friends that think they know more than you do ( even though it’s your area of expertise) and all you can do is allow them to vent while you try to talk to them and give them guidance as to your medical knowledge, just for them to go behind you and call your supervisor and tell him/ her that they requested another nurse to care for their loved one instead of you!
Otherwise you could be looking for legal action to be taken!
I’ve been a an LPN for 8 years and an RN for32 years. and I have seen it all! Don’t get me wrong I love being a nurse but wish that people thought more about what our jobs entail. And that we as caregivers love what we do , we just deserve more respect!
