How long did you take of bereavement before going back to work? I’m a peds cardiac RN, and I just lost my 3 year old to cancer almost a month ago. Idk how I’m going to go back to the bedside or when. I find it triggering every time I think about it.

Grief does not have a timeline. I am so sorry you lost your child, and cannot imagine the pain you have been going through. I lost my husband in September and returned to the Nurse owned and run clinic where I work as an NP after 4 weeks because I have great support from friends/colleagues there. If you are working in pediatrics, that must be more difficult and would certainly be a greater trigger than working elsewhere. Is it possible to work outside of pediatrics for a while? In any event, don't let anyone tell you how to grieve. It is too personal and we all deserve to grieve inour own way. Sending you heartfelt blessngs.
