What places are good for day trips near San Francisco? I'm traavel nursing here for a few weeks.

I've been in SF for 4 months. Lands end, golden gate- walk it, Alcatraz -- plan ahead! Sooo much to do, just walk the streets and stop in shops along the way!

Monterey is a great place to visit and it is within about an hour to an hour and a half from San Francisco. The Aquarium there is spectacular as is the Wharf and Cannery Row. Lots of restaurants and bars. Great day spent by the beach.

Napa valley wine tasting when not raining. Oakland zoo. Sausalito for shopping or lunch. Taking the ferry to Vallejo or Angel Island, cheaper than bay cruuses. Farmers markets. The bay trail runs along the bay from Berkeley to Hercules and has some beautiful views. Treasure Island, Mare Island, Angel Island all have history, food, and places to explore.
