With a critical nursing shortage affecting just about every hospital in the country, nurses can write their own tickets and choose exactly where they want to live and the type of facility where they want to work. If you’re considering your own options, Fredericksburg, Virginia has a lot to offer.

Fredericksburg is an oasis of charm in the middle of the mid-Atlantic region. Offering culture, history, and easy access to both Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia, it is one of the fastest-growing towns in the state. Mary Washington Hospital is the largest employer in the region and the largest medical center in the area. U.S. News & World Report ranked it the 10th best regional hospital in Northern Virginia and 5th best in the Washington, D.C. metro area. It includes a Level II Trauma Center and is part of Mary Washington Healthcare. Registered nurses who choose to live in Fredericksburg have the opportunity to complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing at nearby University of Mary Washington. The school’s nearby BSN Completion Program is specifically geared towards nurses who have earned their Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited university, college, or diploma nursing program.
