I submitted my public health nurse (PHN) application 5.5 weeks ago and it still says “pending.” The mandatory processing time frame is 4 weeks. What’s the best way to contact the BRN? I’ve already used the contact form on their website.

Contact a state senator. That’s what I ended up having to do. They lost pieces of my application. Left me in pending status and never updated when I re-sent documents. After contacting the senator’s office, I got a personal email to a rep at the BRN and an extension while they corrected their errors. Plus, the senator’s office followed up to make sure my issue was resolved.

I spent 4-5 hour stretches trying to reach the California BRNl by phone. I don't try any more. They took 5 months to process a 1/2 page license verification that cost me $100. Generally, if you just wait a ridiculously long time, they will eventually process it. I think it took 2-3 months for my PHN license to show up after applying.
