What other jobs can nurses do other than being a nurse in clinics or in hospitals?

January 8th, 2025

I’ve been a nurse for 50 years and I can say that now more than ever, nurses have the opportunity to transition to a plethora of industries! I’m going to suggest that you take a moment of introspection to identify what aspects of nursing bring you joy, what skills have you developed and what areas of nursing have peaked your interest. Being a huge fan of AI, enter that info into Chat GPT. An example of a prompt you might use: “Act as a career coach and provide a list of 10 nursing roles for a nurse with ___ years of experience who enjoys educating patients, needs a role with autonomy that pays well in a non- hospital setting.” Add any personal job aspects to provide more specific list. Then based on the response you receive, you can ask follow up questions such as, “provide me with a list of 5 actions I can take to assist me in obtaining job as a______.”
Good luck! You’ve got this!!

You could do home care travel (both out of state or going to set patient’s homes at scheduled times), schools, assisted living/rehabs, cruise nurses. Or if your super lucky you might be able to find a private nurse to a wealthy person who likes to travel alot and needs a medical professional near by just I'm case
