Do RNs and LPNs get along?

July 10th, 2022

I’m an RN who used to be an LPN. I’d mostly say yes but it does depend on the care setting. In some settings we have the exact same job so there’s not as much room for hierarchy and drama. In others where one nurse is considered over another nurse based solely on credentials not longevity or experience it can create rifts. It’s hard to navigate those differences sometimes but primarily we are a team.

I think it depends on the personality of the RN. I work in a ER and love and support my LVNs. Unfortunately there is always a change in any workplace to run into personality confirm it’s even between RN to RN etc.

I am an LPN for 35 years. There are RNS that were easy to work with and some quite challenging. Many personalities and work ethics.
